The Mazzer Major is built for café volume. It runs 83 mm flat burrs from a 650 W motor at roughly 1400 rpm, with stepless micrometric adjustment and a bean hopper holding around 1.6 kg. Behind a busy bar that hopper is exactly right. For single dosing it is the wrong tool: beans sit and go stale, and you cannot switch roasts without emptying it.
This blow-out hopper replaces the Major’s standard bean hopper so you can work dose by dose. Weigh your beans in, grind, then press the silicone bellows. The air pushes grounds still sitting in the burr chamber and exit chute down into your portafilter or dosing cup, so less of the previous dose carries into the next one and what you weighed in is closer to what comes out.
Why it matters on a grinder this size
An 83 mm burr set has a large chamber and a long chute. That is a lot of surface for grounds to sit on between doses, which is what makes back-to-back single doses on a commercial grinder inconsistent. Purging with air after each grind is a simpler fix than running throwaway beans through the burrs.
Version 3
Every unit we ship today is Version 3. The bellows is a custom branded, factory moulded silicone part — it is no longer 3D printed, as our earlier versions were.
How it is made
3D printed: lid, lid lock ring, connector, air-leak prevention gasket
This hopper is made for the grinder named on this page. Fit tolerances vary between units and production runs, so minor adjustment may be needed to seat it perfectly on your grinder. Every unit is covered by our 2 year warranty.
