Description
Single dosing on Breville and Sage machines
This hopper fits the built-in grinders on the Barista Express (BES870), Barista Pro (BES878) and Barista Touch (BES880), and also the standalone Smart Grinder Pro (BCG820). Sold as Breville in most markets and Sage in the UK and Europe, they are the same machines.
The Smart Grinder Pro uses hardened stainless steel conical burrs across 60 grind settings, with a bean hopper holding around 18 oz. On the Barista machines the grinder is integrated into the espresso machine itself, with the bean hopper sitting on top.
Why the built-in hopper is the awkward part
Integrated grinders are the reason these machines sell — and the hopper is the compromise. Beans live on top of the machine between uses, which is convenient and also means they stale in place. Changing coffee means emptying the hopper first, and on a machine you use daily that is enough friction that most people simply do not do it.
This hopper replaces it so you can weigh in one dose at a time and swap beans freely. After grinding, pressing the silicone bellows pushes grounds out of the burr chamber and chute rather than leaving them to carry into your next shot — which on a conical burr grinder feeding straight into a portafilter is exactly where you notice it.

Fitting
This hopper is made for the grinder named on this page. Fit tolerances vary between units and production runs, so minor adjustment may be needed to seat it perfectly on your grinder. Every unit is covered by our 2 year warranty.
