Single dosing on the Dose Control Pro

The BCG600 Dose Control Pro is Breville’s entry conical burr grinder, with a bean container holding around 14 oz. It is sold as the Sage Dose Control Pro in the UK and Europe. The BCG400 sits alongside it in the same family.

The name is worth unpacking, because it promises something slightly different from what single dosing means. “Dose control” here refers to setting how long the grinder runs and how many cups you are grinding for — a timed dose from a full hopper. It does not mean grinding only the beans you weighed out.

Making the dose an actual dose

This hopper replaces the bean container so you can put in exactly the beans you intend to grind. Weigh the dose, grind it, then press the silicone bellows to clear grounds from the burr chamber and chute.

For a grinder at this end of the range it also solves a practical problem: entry-level grinders tend to be the ones people use across several different coffees, and emptying a bean container each time is exactly the friction that stops them bothering.

Version 3

Every unit we ship today is Version 3. The bellows is a custom branded, factory moulded silicone part — it is no longer 3D printed, as our earlier versions were.
