Description
Single dosing on the Macap MXA
The MXA is a step up in scale: 65 mm flat burrs, a bean hopper holding around 1.4 kg, and a ground coffee chamber of roughly 300 g. It is a doser grinder built for a bar, where beans go in at the start of service and ground coffee waits in the chamber for the next shot.
That design assumes throughput. If your MXA is at home, or being used to dial in roasts, the assumption breaks — you do not want 1.4 kg of one bean committed above the burrs.
Bigger chamber, more carry-over
65 mm burrs mean a larger grinding chamber and a longer path out than a compact grinder has, so more grounds sit in it between doses. This hopper replaces the bulk bean hopper so each dose can be weighed in on its own, and the silicone bellows lets you push retained grounds through after each grind instead of letting them mix into the next.
