Description
A hopper for how people actually use the Sette
The Sette is unusual, and it is worth being accurate about why. It uses 40 mm conical burrs in a straight-through layout: coffee drops from the burrs and out of the machine immediately rather than travelling along a chute. Baratza quote retention at around half a gram, and the grinder is widely recommended specifically because it single doses well.
So this is not a fix for a retention problem. Your Sette does not really have one.
What it does change
It replaces the bean hopper, which on the Sette holds roughly 300–400 g. That hopper is the part that does not match a single dosing workflow: beans sit in it between sessions, and switching coffee means emptying it first. With a single dose hopper you weigh each dose in on its own and swap beans in seconds.
The silicone bellows gives you a way to clear the small amount that does stay in the burr chamber — most useful when you are moving between very different coffees and want the chamber clean rather than seasoned with the last one.
